What are wisdom teeth?

Wisdom teeth, also known as wisdom teeth or third molars, are the eighth tooth in the row of teeth counting from the front teeth and are located at the very back. The Best Time to Remove Wisdom Teeth

For lower wisdom teeth, basically the sooner the better. Please note that there is a possibility of swelling for about 2 weeks after the extraction, so please make an appointment in conjunction with your work schedule.

What to Expect After Wisdom Tooth Extraction

bleeding A small amount of bleeding will continue for 1-2 days after the surgery, but do not worry. If bleeding is present, it will stop after 20 minutes of biting the affected area with clean gauze to apply pressure. If heavy bleeding continues, please contact the clinic immediately.
gargling and brushing one’s teeth Brush your teeth as usual except for the wound area, taking care not to hit the wound with your toothbrush. You may also use toothpaste. Do not gargle strongly on the day of the surgery to prevent the blood clot that forms the cap of the wound from coming off.
Medication Take the medication as directed. For painkillers, take the painkiller when it hurts, even if it says two tablets at a time, one tablet may work, and if the pain persists after an hour, take the second tablet. If the pain persists after an hour, take a second pill. If you wish to take additional tablets, please allow at least 6 hours between each dose.
Alcohol/Smoking Avoid drinking alcohol on the day of the procedure, as alcohol consumption may increase blood flow and cause bleeding. Smoking may constrict blood vessels and cause poor wound healing, so please refrain from smoking on the day of the procedure.
meal Please wait at least 2 hours before eating. Drinks may be consumed immediately after.
take a bath Avoid prolonged bathing on the day of the procedure, as increased blood circulation may cause bleeding. Showering is fine.
Other Swelling of the gums, pain, difficulty opening the mouth, and internal bleeding may occur with tooth extraction, but will dissipate in a few days to two weeks.

Removal of Upper Wisdom Teeth

For upper wisdom teeth extraction, the sinus cavity (maxillary sinus) may be perforated. In most cases the hole will close spontaneously, but if you continue to experience symptoms of breath leakage into your nose, you may need to have the hole surgically closed. Please be sure to come to the hospital the next day to have the wound disinfected and the threads removed about a week later.

Lower Wisdom Tooth Extraction

For the extraction of lower wisdom teeth, if the inferior alveolar nerve is close, paralysis or numbness of the lips may occur in rare cases. In such cases, the patient will be given medication to monitor the progress of the procedure, but if the progress is not satisfactory, we may refer the patient to a university hospital.
